Los Otros
Lee Santana & Hille Perl have been working as a duo since 1984.
Hille Perl was born in Bremen/Germany into a musician’s family and has been playing the viola da gamba since the age of five. For her, music is the most important communication device, more precise than other languages and of greater emotional significance than any other human experience exvept love.
Lee Santana was born in Sarasota/Florida. his childhood was spent playing the guitar, at first only jazz and rock music, later classical guitar, until he discovered his love for lute instruments. Studies of Early Music and Performances Practise were completed at the Emerson College in Boston, Mass. His main teachers for lute were Pat O’Brian and Steve Stubbs.

Hille Perl and Lee Santana met on the train station in Bremen and have toured the world together ever since. They have played concerts all over Europe and the USA, Middle-America, Australia, Japan and Israel. They have been members of several Early Music Ensembles, like Harp Consort or the Freiburger Barockorchester, and they have recorded numerous CDs.

Steve Player, ingenious guitarist and dancer, was born in London and since 1998 has completed the ensemble. Their collaboration was the result of being the backupband for more famous artists in different combinations. On long tours throughout the world the three of them developed their own director-free trio-concept. Their programs, bades on spontaneity and improvisation, are thus also the expression of their philosophy.

The three fo them are a never-ending work in progress and a total art work. They live on farms in different parts of Europe, and besides playing music they love their children, raise chickens, horses and vegetables and thus have more projects with endless possibilities for development.

In 2002 their first CD “Tinto” appeared on deutsche harmonia mundi/BMG, followed by their latest CD “Aguirre” in 2004.
