Short bio

Chief conductor of renowned Uruguayan National Symphony Orchestra OSSODRE, Diego Naser is currently one of the most active and outstanding Latin American orchestra conductors of the new generation. Since 2018 he has been director of the National Sodre Symphony Orchestra (Uruguay), making him one of the youngest conductors in its history.

An artist of high versatility Diego Naser’s wide-ranging repertoire includes ballet, opera and symphonic works. Recent productions of high critical acclaim include the Spanish premiere revival of Fernando Sor’s lost Opera “Telémaco nell’ Isola di Calypso” in 2016, which was last performed more than 200 years ago (Murcia Symphony), “Madama Butterfly” in Montevideo as well as “The Rite of Spring”.

In the present and upcoming seasons, Diego Naser will be conducting further ballet and opera productions such as “El Quijote del Plata”, “Carmina Burana”, “La Sylphide”, “Manon” and “Tristan und Isolde”. More than 40 symphonic concerts in Austria, Spain, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Venezuela and Russia include collaboration with guest artists Pinchas Zukerman, Michael Barenboim, Amanda Forsyth, Norma Aleandro, Gustavo Núñez, among many others.
Former guest conductor invitations include appearances with Orquesto Filharmonica de Montevideo, Boca del Río Philharmonic, Coahuila Philharmonic, Orquesta Sinfónica de la Universidad de Guanajuato (Mexico), Orquesta Sinfónica de Santa Fe, Orquesta Filharmónica de Mendoza (Argentina), “Berlin Sinfonietta”(Germany), “Grazer Kammerphilharmonie, Junge Philharmonie Wien (Austria), Collegium Musicum Logroño, Orquesta Sinfónica de la Región de Murcia (Spain), among numerous others.
A former violinist of the “West Eastern Divan Orchestra” under Daniel Barenboim, Diego Naser has performed worldwide in many of the most important festivals and venues including as Salzburg & Lucerne Festivals, Waldbühne Berlin, BBC Proms London.

CD recordings of “Italian arias” featuring Carlo Ventre, Richard Strauss’ “Four Last Songs” and Mahler’s fourth symphony featuring Eiko Senda will be released during the current season. A further recording with guitarist Alex Garobbé and Orquesta Sinfónica de la Región de Murcia will feature compositions by Simone Iannarelli.
