The Apollon Musagete Quartet was founded in Vienna in 2006 and only two years later won the First Prize and Special Prizes in category ``String Quartet`` at the 57th ARD International Music Competition in Munich. The quartet also won prizes at the International Chamber Music  Competitions in Vienna and Florence as well as many awards of prominent foundations, such as Esterhazy Stiftung, Windisch Stiftung, Karl Klinger Stiftung and of the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. The concerts of the quartet were transmitted by the significant broadcasting corporations in Poland, Germany, Slovakia and Austria.
During the approaching season the quartet that resides in Vienna will perform in Wiener Konzerthaus and Wiener Musikverein as well as in Berliner Philharmonie, Münchner Herkulessaal, Gasteig and Wigmore Hall. Apart from the common string quartet repertoire, the ensemble will perform contemporary music, the works dedicated to the quartet, relating to mythological Apollon, the Goddesses´ quide as representative of all kinds of art. Concerts with compositions for string quartet and orchestra in cooperation with prominent orchestras, such as Dresdner Philharmonie and the Chamber Orchestra Leopoldinum complete the busy schedule of the quartet for the coming season. The AMQ´s debute CD is due to be released by Oehms Classics in January 2010.
